WEDDING BELLS.
RYAN-RYAN.
A very pretty wedding was solemnised at St. Columba's Catholic Church on Wednesday by the Rev. Father Lynch, when Horace C. Ryan, of the Railway Department, Cootamundra, was married to Marie Gertrude (Maisie), eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Ryan, 'Palarna', Yass-road, Cootamundra. The church was nicely decorated by the girl friends of the bride with roses and crysanthemums.
The bride looked charming as she entered the church on the arm of her father, being gowned in a beautiful dress of ivory messaline duchess, handsomely trimmed with silk insertion, silver bugle fringe, torca net, and orange blossoms, finished off with the long fish train trimmed with lace, true lovers' knots, and trails of orange blossom. She also wore the customary wreath and veil, and carried a bouquet of choice white flowers, maiden-hair fern, and autumn leaves, which, with a gold bangle, cross, and chain, were the gifts of the bridegroom.
Misses Emily Carberry and Annie Ryan (sister of the bride) acted as bridesmaids, and looked sweetly pretty. Miss Carberry was attired in a lovely dress of cream crepe-de-chene over glace silk, prettily trimmed with silk insertion, &c. Miss A. Ryan wore a very pretty dress of silk voile trimmed with silk insertion, cream satin and crystal buttons. Both wore white felt hats trimmed with violets and ospreys, and carried beautiful bouquets of cactus dahlias and maiden-hair, which, together with the diamond and ruby brooches were the gifts of the bridegroom.
Mr. H.P. Ryan, brother of the bridegroom, filled the role of best man, and Mr. C.P. Ryan, brother of the bride, that of groomsman. The bride's gift to the bridesgroom was a handsome dressing case.
During the signing of the register Miss Dorrie Lawler sweetly sang 'Santa Maria'. As the happy couple left the church, Mr. Jack Latham A.L.C.M., played the wedding march in his usual good style.
After the ceremony a reception was held in the Town Hall by the bride's mother. The Rev. Father Lynch presided, and spoke very highly of the good qualities of both the bride and bridegroom. After the usual toasts had been honoured, the happy couple left for Sydney and the South Coast where the honeymoon is being spent.
Mrs. J. Ryan (mother of the bride) wore a handsome gown of black chiffon taffeta, with overdress of ninon, relieved with white and richly trimmed with Oriental all-over and medallions, black tagel hat, with white lancer plume.
Mrs. P.J. Ryan (mother of the bridegroom) wore a lovely dress of black silk resilda, relieved with white and prettily trimmed with silk insertion and buttons; smart black and white hat.
The bride's travelling dress was a powder blue cloth costume, trimmed with blue satin Oriental all-over, cream lace and buttons, and also wore a black coney seal, muff and stole, gifts of the bridegroom; large black tagel hat, with white-plume.
The presents were numerous and costly, including a beautiful picture from the Children of Mary Solidality, of which the bride was a member, a handsome ivory prayer book in case from the Sisters of Mercy, and a handsome cheque from the bridegroom's grandmother. The young couple received many messages of congratulation during the evening.
