Family Notice Friday - Joseph James Bell

Today’s post involves my 4th Great Uncle Joseph James Bell.  The son of William Bell and his wife Eleanor née Snead/Sneed/Sneyd/Sneid (see more posts here , here , here , here , here  and here ).  Joseph was born in 1853 and died on the 27 August 1928 at Cootamundra District Hospital from Erysipelas. In 1875 he married Mary Ann Jane Williams and together they had ten known children.  The Memoriam notice for him was placed in the newspaper by his daughter Ellen McDonnell née Bell and her family. Family Notice Friday: Births Kelly

Today’s post involves the daughter of my second great aunt Laura Lambert and her husband James Kelly.  The unnamed girl was sadly stillborn at the Walmar Private Hospital on the 15th May 1928. Family Notice Friday: Ada Quigg nee Guymer

My 1st cousin 3 times removed Ada Amelia Quigg nee Guymer was buried on Monday the 28th June 1937 at the Methodist Cemetery, Moorefield (see here  and here ).  Ada was born in 1879 the daughter of James Alfred Guymer and his wife Hannah Dolphin nee Jones (see more here  and here ).  In 1892 tragedy struck with first Hannah and then James dying within days of each other leaving Ada an orphan (see here ).  In 1908 she married John O'Hara Quigg and together they had a large family.  Ada died on the 27th June 1937 at her residence 274 Canterbury road, Campsie. Today’s post involves my Great Grandfather Michael O’Connor.  Michael was the son of Patrick Connor/O'Connor and his wife Winifred nee Mooney.  Born in Bendigo, Victoria in 1864 he married Elizabeth Phoebe Walker at Cobar in 1891.  He died in Newcastle on the 3rd July 1935 and was buried at Sandgate Cemetery. Family Notice Friday: Helen Murray

Today's family notice is for my husbands Great Grandmother Helen Murray (nee Stillfried Rathenitz).  Helen was the daughter of Baron Raimund von Stillfried-Rathenitz and Nishiyama Haru.  Placed in a convent school in Singapore with her sisters, prior to her fathers permanent return to Europe from Japan in 1883, she lived most of her life in Singapore.  In 1906 she married James Harvey Murray and together they had four known children Dorothy (Dolly), Mary Clare (Molly), Violet Helen Marguerite (my husbands grandmother) and Kathleen (who died aged 10 in 1919). Death: Mrs Helen Murray, aged 75 dearly beloved mother of Mrs V. Martin and Mrs M. Kloppenburg, at her residence, 342, East Coast Road, Singapore, at 11:30 last night (14.2.55).  Funeral today cortege leaves for the Church of the Holy Family, Katong, at 5 p.m. for Bidadari. Family Notice Friday: Death of Richard Worldon

Today's Family Notice is for Richard Worldon, who is my half 4th great Uncle.  He was the son of Catherine Rhall and John Glitherow but went by the surname of his stepfather James Baker Worldon.  Even though James Worldon killed his mother (see here ,  here and here ) Richard kept the Worldon surname.  Richard Worldon was drowned in the big Gundagai flood of 1891 leaving behind a widow and a very large family. Elizabeth was the daughter of James Baker Worldon and Catherine Rhall, she was born in 1850.  My connection with her is that she is my 3rd great grand Aunt.  In 1870 she married William Leonard Boyd in Beechworth, Victoria.  Elizabeth died on the 15th August 1933 at Rutherglen, Victoria. Family Notice Friday: Death Notice of Eleanor Bell (nee Sneed)

Eleanor Bell (nee Sneed) is my 4th Great Grandmother.  She was born in Sydney in 1820, the daughter of John Sneed and his wife Ann (formerly Puckeridge).  In 1838 she married William Bell and together they had a large family.  William died in 1885 and Eleanor in 1889, they are both buried in the North Gundagai Cemetery. I recently found this Death Notice for my 5th Great Grandmother Mary Rhall (nee Cassidy) at Trove . Interesting new information from the notice is that her middle name was Catherine.
