Newspaper Snippet: Death of James Albert Worldon

 Today's snippet involves my great grand uncle James Albert Worldon.  James was the son of James Baker Worldon and his wife Flora (nee McDonnell).  He was born on 4th February 1904 and died on the 4th of December the same year.  James was buried in the North Gundagai Cemetery in the Church of England Section (see here ).   Source: Trove. New transcriptions, new leads!

Well here I go writing this post for the second time after accidentally deleting it when it was almost finished and not being able to retrieve it as auto save had saved the deleted version 🤦‍♀️ On Thursday I received two transcriptions I had ordered from NSW Family History Trancriptions .  The first was the NSW BDM Marriage Registration for Daniel Sugrue and Ellen Pierce, alias Sullivan and the second was the NSW BDM Death Registration for Daniel Shoughron.  Ellen is my 4th Great Grandmother and Daniel was her second husband, making him my step 4th Great Grandfather.  Please note I have previously posted about them here and here . While I do personally prefer to have certified copies of certificates it is just not economically viable for me to get all of the certificates on my genealogy wish list this way. Trove Tuesday: Larceny

Today's article involves my 3rd Great Grandfather James Worldon and a Chinese hawker named Long Wan. Source: News of the Week. (1878, June 14). The Gundagai Times and Tumut, Adelong and Murrumbidgee District Advertiser (NSW : 1868 - 1931), p. 2. Retrieved September 9, 2014, from http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article122757389 Transcript: LARCENY. Long Wan, a Chinese hawker, was charged with stealing a table fork and a piece of iron the property of James Worldon.  It appeared that accused had been about complainant's hut, and shortly afterwards the articles were missed and were found in possession of the accused. Constable Johnson, who had known accused for six years, gave him an excellent character. The Police Magistrate said there was no doubt the articles had been stolen, but taking into consideration the fact that they were not of much value, he would let him off with a fine of £1 or fourteen days in jail.

This article concerns my great great grandfather James Baker Worldon and his Trade Palace Store in Gundagai.  According to the article he was moving to the city for the welfare of his family, however he actually deserted his family in 1921 (see here ). Family Notice Friday: Death Notice of Eleanor Bell (nee Sneed)

Eleanor Bell (nee Sneed) is my 4th Great Grandmother.  She was born in Sydney in 1820, the daughter of John Sneed and his wife Ann (formerly Puckeridge).  In 1838 she married William Bell and together they had a large family.  William died in 1885 and Eleanor in 1889, they are both buried in the North Gundagai Cemetery. Thursday's Tragic Event: Death from Blood Poisoning

Today's tragic event involves the death of Edwin J. Last, who is my first cousin five times removed.  He was born in 1863, the son of George Last and his wife Ann (nee Costello).  Edwin died  on 26th February 1896 and was buried  in the North Gundagai General Cemetery.
