Happy Easter!


I hope that everyone has had a wonderful Easter!  Unfortunately it has been a while between posts due to a myriad of things going on here at the moment! A household of nine people is a busy place normally but when you throw in another round of household Covid (which decided to infect a new person every week for over a month), a new Labrador puppy and major house renovations into the mix, it is even busier!  The house now has a new traffic flow upstairs and a new bedroom, but the really big changes do not start in earnest until next month, just in time for winter!  

I have not been totally idle when it comes to my genealogy research though!  My private and public family trees have been getting some serious attention and the mountain of research that has needed filing properly is almost done.  I also recently helped one of my cousins locate her biological grandmothers grave in Melbourne; which had been impacted by an unfortunate transcription error, that thankfully has now been rectified. In this regard, I would like to give a huge shout out to the staff at the Public Record Office of Victoria (PROV) who assisted my cousin in her search for information about her grandmother! They really do provide a wonderful service and often do not receive the public praise and appreciation that they deserve! Thank you!

I did have a much longer post ready to go just now but after five hours work it has disappeared into the ether on me!  So I will leave this one here and start again on it and hopefully post it later tonight. Once again Happy Easter to all!

William Henry Bell the son of William Bell and his wife Eleanor (nee Sneed) was born in 1840.  My connection to him is that he is my 3rd Great Grand Uncle.  In 1862 he married Catherine Campbell at Berrima.  William died on the 3rd April 1914 at Wingello, New South Wales and was buried at Marulan General Cemetery. The Kendall Children.

I started this post a while ago and was going to finally finish and post it yesterday however our four grandchildren came over and I got sidetracked.  Our grandchildren range in age now from six down to one;  they are so full of life (each of them lights up a room when they enter it) and we feel extremely blessed to have them in our lives.  After spending the afternoon researching this post, their arrival made this tragedy even more poignant for me and so I appreciated their company even more than usual and hugged them a bit tighter too!  This morning I woke up to a cold, wet and windy Wagga day and the thought of three little girls out in August weather like this, in light weight dresses with no shoes or jumpers impacted on me even more. Those poor babies! One of the girls was found still clasping her doll that she had carried with her over the whole tragic journey.
