Trove Tuesday: Car Overturned

Today’s post involves my 1st cousins four times removed Charles Twemlow and his sister Ada Rigelsford nee Twemlow.  They were the children of Francis Twemlow and his wife Tamar nee Guymer.  Another post involving this family can be found here . Sunday’s Obituary: Tamar Twemlow nee Guymer

Today’s post involves my 4th Great Aunt Tamar Twemlow nee Guymer.  The daughter of David Guymer and his wife Marianne nee Bentley she was born in Great Wratting, England around 1842.  In 1853 she came to Australia with her parents and some of her siblings on board the ship Harriet .  In 1862 she married Francis Twemlow at Goulburn and together they had a large family.  Francis died in 1913 at Goulburn.  Tamar died at her residence in Reynold Street, Goulburn and was buried at the Old Goulburn Cemetery in 1924. Shopping Saturday: We stock everything you eat except mushrooms!

My Great Great Grandfather James Baker Worldon for a time ran a grocery store in Gundagai and this was one of the advertisements he had for it.  It is quite an extravagant claim to stock everything you eat except mushrooms, advertising standards were obviously different then!  More posts about him and his business can be found here , here , here , here  and  here . Wednesday’s Wedding: Donnelly - O’Connor

Today’s post involves my paternal grandparents Mervyn James Phillip Donnelly and his wife Cluna Irene nee O’Connor.  There was one big problem with this marriage in that my grandfather was not legally free to marry her, as he was still married to his first wife Marie Rose Thomson who he had married in Sydney in 1926.  More posts about this can be found here  and  here . Sunday’s Obituary: Margaretta Jane Worldon nee Bell

Today’s post involves my third great grandmother Margaretta Jane Worldon nee Bell.  The daughter of William Bell and his wife Eleanor nee Sneed she was born at Sutton Forest, New South Wales in 1860.   In 1878 she married James Baker Worldon at Mundarlo, New South Wales.  Together they had eight known children, five of whom tragically died in infancy.  Margaretta died in 1939 at her home in Gundagai and was buried at the North Gundagai cemetery.
