Tracing Family Branches

Today’s post involves my 4th Great Uncle Joseph James Bell.  The son of William Bell and his wife Eleanor née Snead/Sneed/Sneyd/Sneid (see more posts here , here , here , here , here  and here ).  Joseph was born in 1853 and died on the 27 August 1928 at Cootamundra District Hospital from Erysipelas. In 1875 he married Mary Ann Jane Williams and together they had ten known children.  The Memoriam notice for him was placed in the newspaper by his daughter Ellen McDonnell née Bell and her family. Today’s post involves my third great grandmother Margaretta Jane Worldon nee Bell.  The daughter of William Bell and his wife Eleanor nee Sneed she was born at Sutton Forest, New South Wales in 1860.   In 1878 she married James Baker Worldon at Mundarlo, New South Wales.  Together they had eight known children, five of whom tragically died in infancy.  Margaretta died in 1939 at her home in Gundagai and was buried at the North Gundagai cemetery. Eliza Carpenter (nee Bell) was the daughter of William Bell and his wife Eleanor (nee Sneed) and was born in 1851.  In 1879 she married John Henry Carpenter with the marriage registered at Forbes, together they raised a large family.  Eliza died in 1931 and John in 1933 they are both buried at Bogan Gate General Cemetery (inscriptions  here  and here ).  My connection with her is that she is my 3rd Great Grand Aunt. William Henry Bell the son of William Bell and his wife Eleanor (nee Sneed) was born in 1840.  My connection to him is that he is my 3rd Great Grand Uncle.  In 1862 he married Catherine Campbell at Berrima.  William died on the 3rd April 1914 at Wingello, New South Wales and was buried at Marulan General Cemetery. Eleanor Bell (nee Sneed) is my 4th Great Grandmother.  She was born in Sydney in 1820, the daughter of John Sneed and his wife Ann (formerly Puckeridge).  In 1838 she married William Bell and together they had a large family.  William died in 1885 and Eleanor in 1889, they are both buried in the North Gundagai Cemetery.
