Today's obituary is for Patrick Joseph Ryan who was the husband of my 3rd Great Aunt Louisa Annie Jones (for more on this family see here). He was born about 1867, the son of Michael Ryan and his wife Mary nee Sheedy. On the 10th June 1889 at Goulburn, Patrick and Louisa were married. Patrick died on the 6th March 1944 in Sydney and was buried at Rookwood Catholic Cemetery (see here).

Mr. P.J. Ryan
The death occurred at Canterbury District Hospital of Patrick Joseph Ryan, at the age of 76 years. At the time of his death he was residing at Belmore, where he had settled after his retirement from the public Service. Mr. Ryan, who had been connected with the Railway Department, spent many years in that service at Cootamundra, where he will be remembered by a large number of friends. He was an ardent Catholic, a fond husband, and a loving father. Requiem Mass was celebrated in St. Joseph's Church, Belmore, the funeral leaving later for the Catholic cemetery, Rookwoood. Mr. Ryan is survived by his wife and two sons, Herbert (Dulwich Hill) and Bert (George's Plains, late of Bribbaree).
